TONEY HENRY

Toney is currently working towards his MA in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages at Tel Aviv University. A native of Southern California, Toney received his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara with majors in French and Global Studies and a minor in Spanish. In addition, he earned a California State Teaching Credential in French and his MA in Education from Chapman University. Toney has spent two years in France teaching as an English language assistant and has spent the last five years in California teaching high school French. He has also taught academic reading and writing for Sylvan Learning Center, a tutoring center with locations throughout the U.S. His main goals with students are to help them improve their presentation and writing skills, enrich their vocabulary, and have fun speaking the language by sharing intercultural experiences.

YAEL MARKS

Yael recently graduated from Brandeis University in Boston with a major in English and a minor in Education. She has taught and tutored in a variety of settings; from Yeruham to Boston and theater camp to sixth grade English language arts. She is currently getting her master's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and is excited to help fellow students improve their reading, writing, oral communication, and presentation skills.

 

LUCY ZAKHAROVA

Lucy is currently working towards her MA in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages at Tel Aviv University. A native of Moscow, Russia, Lucy has two BA degrees in Applied Linguistics (Translation Studies and TESOL). Lucy spent three years working as a teacher trainer for the British Council Moscow, and has seven years of experience as an English Language teacher. Lucy holds Cambridge CELTA and CPE certificates. For the last two years she has been assessing the writing portion of the Russian matriculation exam in English, and she developed evaluation and assessment materials for Moscow schools.

Lucy has a passion for learning all kinds of things and exploring new places.

REBECCA KERNER

Rebecca is currently working towards her MA in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages at Tel Aviv University.

A native of Southern Maine, Rebecca received her undergraduate degree in Biology. While at university Rebecca worked as a private peer tutor and initiated an on-campus daily tutoring service, On-Call Tutors. Upon graduation she moved to Daegu, South Korea to teach ESL to pre-Kindergarten students. After which she spent time in Thailand, Seoul, South Korea and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia teaching ESL and English Language Arts Content Knowledge to a variety of ages and levels.

When not in the classroom as a teacher or student Rebecca enjoys traveling the world and paragliding.

AMY LANOIE

A native of New Jersey, Amy received her MA in Migration Studies from Tel Aviv University, and her bachelor’s degrees in Business Management and Anthropology, with a minor in Religious Studies (University of Tennessee).  She has taught as a substitute teacher for all grade levels, as well as tutoring university students for whom English is their second language.  Amy is currently in TAU’s MA in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages program.  She enjoys assisting people from different cultures in learning the lingua franca of our globalized world.

ANA MARQUES (for European Portuguese)

Ana Marques was born in the north of Portugal. She studied in the University of Porto, where she did a BA in Portuguese and English Languages and Literatures, an MA in Brazilian Studies and a Ph.D. in Romance Cultures and Literatures, specializing in Portuguese Literature. She worked as a Portuguese teacher at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem for four years before coming to Tel Aviv University.

 

Alice Pasquier (for French) 

 

Alice is a native French speaker and currently working at the French Institute.  She has been in Israel for two years and teaches French at Tel Aviv and Bar Ilan Universities. With her two masters in history and teaching French to foreigners, she has worked around the globe (Greece, Philippines, Israel). Alice is well trained by the "CEFRL" and works with passion and patience so that her students are be able to communicate effectively in French - namely the ability to speak, read, listen, and write.

 

 

Anat Vaturi (for Polish)

Anat, born in Poland, educated in Poland and Israel is an experienced Polish language instructor and a Ph.D. candidate at Tel Aviv University's School of History. Her research concentrates on Jews and Protestants in Post-Reformation Cracow. Her scholarly interests include Polish-Jewish history, early modern history, interreligious relations, interplay of law and religion, history of tolerance.
